So I failed this year at NaNo. I sat down on day one and broke a personal record with 8,070 words. However I was unable to find the time or desire to write after that.
In less than a month I would be getting my college degree, a Bachelor’s of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies (Concentrations in Zoology and Psychology). To get this it would mean I would have to write a very good and well thought out research paper on my main project-training the Central Florida Zoo’s alligator.
As I was also interning on my days off from work (I work in a Publix bakery) my free time was spent either having a few relaxing moments to myself, or working on that darned paper.
So NaNo went forgot. Not happily, but I was forced to admit that I just wasn’t going to get the time I needed to actually write anything for enjoyment.
I had intended to write a fanfiction, and still do. I am slowly working on it when I have muse and time. However, another story had pushed it’s way into my brain, a story that does not want to wait until camp NaNo or the next official NaNoWriMo.
The prequel to Gryphon Legend.
I will begin writing this story and will give myself 30 days to compete with a friend or two who is not exhausted from NaNoing in November. It will be just like NaNo, only it will run from December-January and will be much less official than the real NaNo.
Wish me luck. I’d like to see some good come of this year.
